Starting a group online program has never been easier
There hasn't been a better time to create a group program
This article is not your regular blog post to read over coffee just to continue your day. What you’re about to read will change your perspective and your point of view on running group coaching online programs and online courses.
Stuff nobody is telling you about group programs
I will tell you stuff you were not aware of before. Or maybe you were aware of it, but just ignored it because you were as busy as a cranberry merchant at Thanksgiving putting down fires in your business? Or perhaps too scared to launch your own thing even though you see success other people have (but you keep telling yourself “one day”). Or maybe you are making some progress in creating your own program, but you never launched it or even told anyone about it because your program is not “perfect” yet (I see you, perfectionist)?
This article will give you insights into starting and scaling your group program, helping your audience by sharing your skills and expertise and scaling it to make good money without the hustle of working with clients 1-1.
I’ve been launching various group coaching programs since 2014, and I’ll be sharing with you my experience, insights and thoughts I gathered. I will share with you what worked and what hasn’t, and I will share success stories my clients had with launching their own programs based on my approach.
I’m going to share with you insider information. Stuff nobody is telling you right now about building your group coaching program (because "they" try to make it super fancy and complicated; and it just isn't!)
A "group program" is an online program you sell to teach others how to achieve a specific result. It diffrers from an "online course" because it has a live coaching/teaching compontent. It is the best model to help your clients achieve results AND for you to leverage your skills and knowledge, spend your time in the most effective way AND make VERY good money.
You have all you need to launch a group program
I’m doing it because, if you’re like most people out there (and how I used to be), you think you need to be a “guru” or a certified coach, have a massive audience, and have a perfected product to launch a group program. Or you might think the market is overcrowded now and there’s no room for your program anymore. Or that you don’t have the time to build your program because “it takes months” and sophisticated funnels and all the tech and tools. So you work hard to be “ready.”
But it's not the overcrowded market, lack of "guru status", no idea for the program or no time.
The real problem is different. You’re most likely overcomplicating it all and wasting your potential. And that makes your hard work useless and your time wasted. And it bothers me—a lot. I’ve worked with over 600 online entrepreneurs, and I’ve seen first-hand how much potential they waste not launching their group program. They are too busy, too scared or are telling themselves some limiting stories (not good enough, don’t have anything to teach, everyone is doing it already…) that keep them from launching.
The real problem is you’re overcomplicating it and wasting your potential. And that makes your hard work useless and your time wasted.
Launching my own group program was a game-changer for me and my business. I get to help and impact more people more effectively, and I make more money at the same time. And before that, it was all 1-1, custom projects that burn you out and bore the sh#t out of you.
Back in the day, I started building and testing various programs to help me get some of my time back and make me happy when looking at my bank account. I love helping people, but the 1-1 work is hustle and has its limitations:
- Not scalable
- The only way to make more money is to (1) raise prices or (2) spend more time working 1-1
- You repeat yourself doing the same (or very similar) work for each new client,
- aka - you waste time and limit your income potential
I even created one of my programs - the Return-On-Time - because I saw how much time my clients waste running in circles like a Chihuahua, not going anywhere. Chihuahuas are cute, but they seem to be overwhelmed, always busy, noisy (annoying at times), and not making as much money as they should be 🙂 Do you want to be a Chihuahua, always chasing your tail and putting fires in your business? Or do you want to be an entrepreneur who can impact the world, who makes a very good income and has the time to enjoy life?
Fun Fact #1
Last fall, I had an idea for a new program, and I was able to increase the price of it from $697 to $5000 in 8 months, getting more students. All I did is follow a strategic path to launch, improve and grow the program.
Fun Fact #2
I recently helped a client go from an idea to a launched program in one week. What?! Yes, I know. Mind-blown.
Yes, she was uniquely positioned to do it, and not everyone will be able to accomplish the same. Case in point is - she’s had this idea to launch her thing for quite some time. She just needed a push and a strategy to launch it successfully. The result is over 20 new students and over $10k made in sales. $10k on something she was “thinking about” for months. If it wasn’t for this launch I pushed her to do, the idea would have stayed in her “drawer” and the potential to impact her student’s lives, and business would have been lost, together with $10k in revenue.
All service providers - no matter if you are a solo-preneur, run a marketing agency - can and, I will argue, should have a group coaching program.
If you have skills you use in your business or to provide services to others, if you have know-how, then you can have a group program.
You can launch a group program even if you have never run any programs, even if you’re not a coach, even if you think you’re in a crowded space and even if you don’t have a brand or colossal audience.
So that I’m crystal clear here, this is not some gray-hat marketing tactic or a “growth hack” I’ll share with you. If you expect “magic” and “success with a click of a button,” please do not read any further.
But if you want to build a group program and stop being a Chihuahua and want to learn how I develop programs and help others do the same, and - spoiler alert - maybe build your own program with my help, keep reading.
Because once you build your group program and stop being a Chihuahua, you will make some decent money so that you can buy...a Chihuahua and take long walks with your new dog, on the beach, looking at the sunrise… 😉
Time to wake up, my friend. It’s time to stop spending time and money on the gimmicks and “nice-to-haves” and start building your business.
